Hello,

I'm Mike...I need to come up with a funny name. I am fairly new to diving. I did my open water in April 2018, finished my AOW May 2019, and enriched air last month. I am heading back to Cozumel in August just for fun. About four years ago a started a business (Real Estate Inspections) that became pretty successful so I retired from a 26 year career in education in 2017. Now I work my business so I can pay for dive equipment and dive trips.

Hi, from Pittsburgh but I now live in Pearland and just got certified a few years ago so haven't been on very many dives but since the wife won't do it and the kids are just now getting certified looking for others to tag along with at times. Just got back from the Riviera Maya where I did two dives with Dressel out of the Barcela Maya resort. Both dives were good seeing a lot of marine life.

Hi all. I'll introduce myself.

I've been in Houston about 2 years, coming from VA (Roanoke, in the Blue Ridge Mtns). I've been to a few of the CHUM meetings but haven't been able to plug into the diving part yet. Hope to change that in this new year.

I've been diving for almost 20 years & almost 500 dives. I have my PADI Rescue card (although that was long ago & I'm not sure if I could actually rescue someone any more). I learned to dive in Thailand & did my 1st 40 dives there. Other than Thailand, I've dove Colombia, Costa Rica & several of the common Caribbean destinations.

For US east coast diving, I've done Cooper River in SC searching for megalodon teeth and the NC wrecks in the Crystal Coast region. I lived on Key Largo for a few months several years back so I've seen my share of Molasses Reef & dove the Spiegel Grove when it was still on its side. I've spent some time in the springs of northern FL as well. Lastly, plenty of dives in the rivers & quarries of VA/NC. Oh, & my last 2 dives were in Lake 288 a few weeks before it closed.

I hope to join the good folks of CHUM in the rivers & quarries of TX along with trips to the Flower Garden Banks & elsewhere.

I dove in Taganga, near Santa Marta. It's on the Caribbean coast east of Cartagena. The viz isn't great (a good day was 30-40 feet). Otherwise, some decent diving.

Howdy CHUM!

I'm Brandon and I live over in Webster. Last year I completed OW at Lake Longhorn and took Nitrox earlier this year.

Learning to dive was a great experience that I'm looking forward to continuing developing. The decision to do so was spurred by my interest in Conservation. I'm planning to work in Marine Conservation after completing my degree.

I'm looking forward to getting to meet some of y'all!

Hi Brandon! I'm also in the Webster area. It's nice to see someone in my neck of the woods! Interestingly, I also work in various conservation-related areas and I have a degree in marine biology :)

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions! Hopefully we can get a dive in soon.

Very cool! We'll have to hit one of the lakes some time. I admittedly need more practice in the water. Plus, I'd be interested to hear about your work between dives!

Hello all!I’m Donna aka Blue Water Dreamer. I’ve been a diver since the 80’s but took a break while my daughter was young. She is also a fairly new member to this group and we enjoy diving as a family. We love traveling and love spending time in Roatan and Grand Cayman, and also love to dive while cruising to try out new locations. Joined this group as it was recommended as a fun,no drama group. We just want to dive and have a good time. We’ve heard nice things and met a couple members at Mammoth Lake. I work in HR for a baking Company and work in Houston but live closer to the coast. Looking forward to meeting you at the meetings. ‍♀️

Hi Donna! It’s nice to have your family join CHUM!

I gotta say- I love your screen name. I’m kind of kicking myself for not thinking of it sooner :)

Also nice having more people down on the south side. I live down south and spend a lot of time commuting to Houston. I know the pain.
